Staff Writer Alexa Lardieri tells us in this article that according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, an outbreak of Campylobacter jejuni, the most common cause of food poisoning in the United States could be linked to puppies licking their owners.
In the article it states “At least 30 people between the ages of 8 months and 70 years old in 13 states have been infected…”
Puppies and dogs can carry diseases even when they appear healthy and should be taken to the vet for a check up when brought to their new homes.
Dog owners are encouraged and should wash their hands with soap and water when cleaning up after them as well as handling them.
